Some words about my Baby Carriage for Magnolia Ink

Hi all!

I have got some reactions (not positive) regarding my Baby Carriage and the step by step I made for Magnolia Ink.
And I want to say that the making of a Baby Carriage is not my idea.

I have been inspired by several other Baby Carriages,
and I would like to say that I am so sorry to have upset
some of the talent ladies that also have made a pram of papers,
and before me.

I had no intention to "steal" this idea as my own.
I thought it was a common knowledge that Baby Carriages
had been made by others before. And that no one thought the idea of a Baby Carriage of paper was my idea.

I have not "stolen" any templates, but used Spellbinder "Circle" dies for the pram bag,
like many others. I don't know who was the "inventor" of doing this.
And for the storm cover I have used border dies from Magnolia (DooHickey's).
It is a special storm cover and I have seen it in several blogs.

I was not aware of that it was Maya S who had made this first (2010).
After reading some comments on FB regarding this, I contacted her.
And she wanted full apology in public and that everyone should be aware of that this was her idea and that she was the first one that had made this.

So Maya, like I told you when I contacted you, I am so sorry for not mention your name in the description for the Baby Carriage in Magnolia Ink. I know many have been inspired by your gorgeous pram.
And although I haven't copied your tutorial, I can see that they are quite similar.
So I can see where your reaction is coming from.
The measurements, colors, details and embellishments are not the same, but we have both used the Spellbinder dies.
And we have used the same idea about how to make the storm cover.

We all get inspired and we also inspire others.
Isn't that why we share our ideas here on our blogs?!
This hobby is all about having fun!
And I have also gotten so many good friends through my card making,
which I am extremely thankful for.
But I am also very concerned that the origin person to the ideas should be mentioned.
So therefor I write this post.

The idea about this special storm cover may originate from Hasslecastle Serendipity templates that has the copyright from 2008. Sonja Sellers has made this gorgeous pram after this template.
And here is another post from 2009 where someone is using the same idea for the storm cover. Only in her own version.

My friend Fran has also made a stunning Baby Carriage in 2009. And here is another version from 2009.
And I also want to show you another gorgeous version from 2011.
And here is another favorite Baby Carriage from 2009 by sweet Carina.
Niki Estes has also made a Baby Carriage + template that I have been inspired by. I first saw Petra's stunning Baby Carriage, and made my own a bit later too.
Here are some others: Tiffany, Chris, Bjørg, Susie, Lauren, Geri and R. Maria Sabina

This is just some of the Baby Carriage you will find out in the blog-world, and there are also several on You Tube.

I encourage everyone to take a "walkabout" to look at all the gorgeous Baby Carriages that are out there, and be inspired by them!

Big hugs to you Sweet Camilla! You are one of the most amazing, kind, generous and humble ladies in blogland and I am honoured to know you. You are someone to admire and I am proud to know you.
I can't imagine how you felt having to write this. But please know, you have my support 100%.
Hold you head high. You have done nothing wrong. YOU are inspiring - in crafting talent and in your entire being.
Lots of love to you Sweetie,

OMG! I´m chocked that people out there behave so childish. This makes me afraid to make an other card, I mean someone could have done something similar before me. I thought the whole idéer of blogs and magazins were to get inspired.
You inspire me a lot :-)

Hi Camilla,
LOVE your cards!!!
Please can you tell me is the carte postale stamp also from Magnolia??
Can't find this stamp and I am in lover with it ;o).

Oh my how sad. Surely that what crafting is all about ~ sharing each others ideas. I for one, never thought that you had "stolen" any ideas. Just shared. What is the point in crafting if we can't make something in fear that someone is going to get upset. I love your work Camilla ~ just keep it coming.
BIG HUGZ Fleur xXx

Hei vennen:)

Hi Camilla,

I can understand both positions. And indeed: the World Wide Web is a bron of inspirations!!! When someone makes a tutorial, you invite people to make the same. Or don't show it at all! When people like your work, the copy... I have also seen that carriage, long before Magnolia Ink was in store. I didn't make it yet because I don't have the material. I applause you for your writing and your amazing creations!

Hugs, Karin

Og tusen hjertelig takk for all ispirasjonen du bringer. Du lager de lekreste kort. Klem

OMG I'm realy schocked about this! What a mess for such a small thing. We live in the hobbyworld and NOTHING is realy new! We learn from each other, see from each other new things, old things.Does it realy matters who was the first one that makes something? NO!! It is the moment that we see by someone something we like and if that somebody makes a tutorial or a Youtubefilm FANTASTIC!! That's why I'm thankfull for that lady's who will giving me some beautiful things to learn because that's why I see on blogs, buy magazines..just to LEARN from another one! So don't feel said about this. Be proud that you've stood in Magnolia Ink! Don't feel said about poeple who are jealous about you for that! I wanna thank you for that! Have a good day and look to the good poeple who mean it good with you and give compliments for your good and excellent work! Sorry if the words not always good but it's not my language normally I've speak or write!
Hugs,Esther

Oh Camilla sending you huge hugs!!!
I would like to say that you are such a fantastic source of truly amazing inspiration to me and seeing your work in MagnoliaInk and on your blog gives me so much pleasure. It is wonderful that you share with us all your incredible talent so that we can all be inspired by you!

Where and when we see beautiful works of art and get our ideas from, the original source is not always clear and as I know you to be a person of integrity I know you would never want to cause any hurt to anyone.

Thank you Camilla for sharing your sensational, exquisite, stunning work with us all! I absolutely loved your little baby carriage in MagnoliaInk. As I have seen many baby carriage tutorials on the web it was so great to see your version using Magnolia's Doohickeys. As always totally stunning work!

Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
Have a great weekend.

Hi Camilla, I feel sorry for you to have to write this on your blog. Everyone goes around blogging and getting several ideas from other blogs. After all tutorials are posted to be shared and done by other people too. I believe you have been very honest and people need to grow up. Having to ask someone to excuse himself in public is stupid. I don't know this person but this act is definitely not appreciated. If I did something new and posted it in my blog to show it to others, it is obvious that (a) I expect others to copy it and (b) to improve on it. Move on Camilla, you're one of the best creative professional Magnolia creator I have ever seen. Love and Hugs xxxx Claire

Dear Camilla,
I'm really sorry about all this and also I´m sending you a big hug.
Like many others have already said to you, you haven´t done anything wrong and you don´t have any reason to apologize.
When we think the wonderful and really diverse world of Internet who can really take their own name of what? Person who is ready to throw the first accusation, must be very self-confident of her/his matter. Who did what and was first?? The big question and usually difficult to get the correct answer.
All this moaning is really ridiculous and sad at the same time. Is this where we have come with this beautiful thing, which we all love so much. Do we begin blame each other, that this was my idea, and this and this ...
I´ve always thought that intention is to share common ideas and thoughts.
And this is what you do dear Camilla. You share a lots of beautiful ideas and inspirations to me and many other crafters. So why should you apologize for it.
You´ve done wonderful work and I do hope to see lots of wonderful ideas and tutorials from you in future too :)

Wishing you a wonderful weekend :)
Big hugs,
Karita

Oh my dear dear friend, I am so sad to read this, and I just wanted to tell you that your work is truly exquisite and you provide myself and the rest of blogland with so much inspiration with every single one of your stunning creations. I have to say that you are one of my fave crafters and also a wonderful friend and DT buddie that I have had the pleasure of meeting :o)

Your baby carriage in the magazine is beautiful.....and I love your take on it, especially the pretty little die cut edge, it really finishes it off to perfection.

I would not know where half of the things I see around blogland come from orginally, I mean some of these examples you are showing us go right back to 2008, so I think, my lovely, you have do nothing wrong. You just showed us how to make one that is all, not once did you claim it as your own idea.

Anyway, you put this behind you, hold your head up high and continue with your beauitiful crafts, as I for one, can not wait to see what you make next :o)

Lots and lots of love and hugs to you sweet friend!

Camilla, I'm so terribly sorry for you to have to go through all this! Your baby carriage was so sweet and it fit the theme of the magazine and to help inspire people. My dear friend!
I write this in english so everyone can read my words.
I am so proud over you! I cannot imagine how you felt writing this post, but you did it with elegance and it shows just how you are. You are a true kind person with a huge sence of moral. You already know how I feel and think about this whole situation you´ve happened to be involved in. Be strong and lift your head up high my friend, you have an enormously support from so many people. I am also very pleased that you shared all the earlier baby carriager today. I think it´s important to make this clear, people claims to be the first to "envent" something but what do we really know about this for sure? It´s a big big world out there...THAT we know for sure!

In Sweden we have this thing we say:
"The one who diggs a whole for others, usually fall down there themselfes"...
Amen

Hi Camilla,
Was just dropping by when I saw this what I can only describe as total ridiculousness. I am so sorry & angry for you & know first hand how you must feel as it happened to me last year when I started selling my cards on e-bay. Someone treid to tell me I'd copied a handmade embellishment from them & as they had been selling on e-bay first - I was totally out of order & could be in a lot of trouble as their work was copywrited, also that I may loose my magazine commissions as a result & demanded I never use 'their' technique again. Needless to say I was mortified even though I'd never seen this used by the person in question.I considered it to be a common technique used by too numerous to mention & it regulalry appeared in magazines & blogland. However I was still absolutely mortified & remember vividly to this day how gutted it made me feel. I, like you, was completely appologetic at the time as again, like you, thought it was more important that no-one be upset from my actions or by crafting in general, which at the end of the day is supposed to be for fun?....isn't it?!

However with hindsight & reading this from you I now have a totally different view of this. People who want to 'claim' ideas like this as their own are out of order, plain & simple. There are many times I have come up with little tid bits of my own & used them for ages, then seen them afterwards being done by other people. I mean, do these people REALLY think that they are the only ones who can come up with ideas? Furthermore when does it stop? By that reckoning then - who was the first person to paint with Distress Inks? for instance, or use COPICS? Because they did it first does that mean no-one else can?

Now don't get me wrong I think you should absolutley give credit when 'straight copying' an origional idea of course, however with the number of examples of other prams you have given that pre-date the supposed 'origional' it is clear to anyone that this isn't the case here.

I think you have been most gracious in your reply (much more than I would i have managed to be!) which is a credit to the kind of person you obviously are. You would have been quite with-in your rights to tell them where to go as far as I'm concerened - but then again, is it really worth it?!! I mean HAVE THESE PEOPLE GOT NOTHING BETTER TO DO!!!! The phrase 'get a grip' springs to mind!

If people really understood Art they would realise the importance of 'influence' & 'inspiration' through the ages & trying to hinder this in this way in my opinion is a much bigger sin than the one they are accusing you of, of which you are clearly completely innocent. If they were secure in their own capabilities maybe they wouldn't feel so threatened - I love to know people have used my ideas, cause I know I've plenty of them, like yourself. You are so talented & you are actually my absolute favourite crafter at the mo! Your blog is a delight, paked full of origional & inspirational ideas, that anyone with a true eye for this kind of thing could clearly see you have absolutley no reason or need to copy from others.

Your pram is beautiful & when the world is free of people who can see past the jealously & overly high opinions they have of themselves to tell you that - it will surely be a better place...Until then...shame on you for causing this fiasco & more importantly than any crafting issue - for hurting another humans feelings & putting someone so precious to the crafting world in such a position.

I know its an impossible task, but really try not to worry, you are worth ten of them & I just hope you can put it behind you without too much more heart-ache. I'm gonna write about the issue on my blog & I'll link back so others can hopefully show their support.
Bye for now hun & take care,
Deb.xxx

Hiya Camilla
Im so so proud of you Camilla. Your words are perfect and couldnt be worded any better. You are such an inspiration to EVERYONE and are always there to help everyone and offer advise. The way you made your carriage using the doo-hickeys was AMAZING.Like you said it is supposed to be fun and a way to share our ideas through Blogland xxx Hold your head up high Sweetie. Not all readers of Magazines have the internet and when I worked for another magazine I was often asked by the editor to look on blogland for a 'How to do'
of a certain card that was popular at the time for the readers to see. If they do not want us to be inspired well quite frankly they shouldnt put it out there for the WHOLE world to see in the first place.

Kommer til å glede meg over å se alle dine vakre arbeider framover.

Veldig sterkt å lese det du har skrevet over her.

Hilsen Ellen.
